The customer
Washington Square Films is a New York and Los Angeles production company that delivers high-profile
commercials for global brands. The work involves A-list talent, live shoots, and brand campaigns that have to land in multiple markets at once. When localization is part of the brief, the bar is broadcast quality across every language, with no compromise on the performance audiences came to see.
The problem
WSF was tasked with localizing a high-profile TV commercial featuring A-list talent, filmed live at a major sporting event. The constraint stack was hostile. There was no option for a reshoot, because the talent and the event were one-shot. Traditional dubbing would not be convincing on faces audiences recognize. And the VFX pipeline that had historically filled that gap, with animators painstakingly rebuilding mouth movements frame by frame, would not fit the timeline or the budget. The brand needed the ad to feel just as real in every market as the original, and it needed it fast.
Why LipDub
WSF tested multiple tools before the shoot. LipDub AI stood out for three reasons. Realism: the output held up in close-ups and expressive moments, preserving the performance even with recognizable talent. Speed: multiple localized versions of the commercial were delivered within days of providing the original footage and audio takes. Affordability: compared to the traditional VFX pipeline, LipDub offered a path to localization at a fraction of the cost without sacrificing quality. WSF brought LipDub in during the preparation stage before the shoot, treating it as the post-production fallback that made the whole campaign possible.
The work
Once principal photography was complete, WSF provided the original video assets and the alternate audio takes for each target market. LipDub AI generated the localized versions within days, preserving the on-camera performance, avoiding the uncanny valley on close-up shots, and integrating cleanly into WSF's existing post-production workflow. The localized deliverables spliced into the original edit without additional VFX cleanup. What would have been months of manual animation work for a team of artists shipped as finished, broadcast-ready cuts.
The outcomes
+1.6 million views on the localized Walker's version of the ad in the launch market.
+3% increase in global sales following the localized campaign launch.
Hundreds of thousands saved by replacing the traditional VFX localization workflow.
5x faster localization compared to traditional VFX-based dialogue replacement workflows.
0 reshoots required despite live production and multi-language delivery, with A-list talent performance preserved across every language.
In their words
We needed a creative and flexible solution that could suit our budget and demanding post-production schedule.
Washington Square Films, Production Team
In the very recent past, this would have required a team of VFX animators painstakingly building models and replacing mouth movements by hand, eating up time & money.
Washington Square Films, Production Team
This would've taken months. Instead, we had fully localized deliverables ready to ship in days, and we're excited to imagine how much more streamlined the process will be once it's part of every editor and VFX artist's workflow.
Washington Square Films, Production Team
What's next
With LipDub AI proven on a high-stakes live shoot, WSF expects the workflow to become a default option for editor and VFX teams handling localized campaigns. Multilingual delivery shifts from being a post-production risk to a planned, repeatable step in the edit.
