Why switch?
Lip sync used to mean building it yourself, or wiring up a thin API.
The alternatives
Stitch a translation service, a voice tool, and a lip sync model together, and own every quality gap between them. Or bolt on a cheap lip sync API that handles one clip at a time and falls apart on real footage.
The LipDub way
One proprietary API for translation, dubbing, and broadcast-grade lip sync, built to run at scale.
Let's answer some FAQ's
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions
What is LipDub?
LipDub is a video localization platform. You upload a video you already shot (or generated), and we bring it into every market with the original person on camera, the original voice cloned to each language, and broadcast-quality lip sync. Marketing teams, agencies, online education platforms, and creators use LipDub to take what's already working in one market into every market they want to grow.
How does LipDub work?
Five steps. Upload the video you already shot (or generated). Translate the transcript into 80+ languages (refine any line in the editor before anything else generates). Clone the original speaker's voice, or pick one from the library. Lip sync the mouth to the new words. Export broadcast-ready versions for every market.
What kinds of content does LipDub work best for?
Long-form video where the person on camera matters: ads, courses, podcasts, panels, brand video, instructor-led training, talking-head content. Simple production (talking head, two-person conversation, podcast-style) with broadcast-grade source footage where the speaker is clearly visible.
How many languages does LipDub support?
80+ languages out of the box, with native pacing. Beyond that, LipDub is language-agnostic: if you upload your own audio, we can sync it to human lips. That includes minority languages, dialects, accents, and fictional languages. We've even seen users lip sync singing choir voices!
Is there a free trial?
Yes, with no credit card. The free tier includes 1 minute of content with AI dubbing, voice cloning, and lip sync. Paid plans are credit-based; see the pricing page.
What's available through the LipDub API?
The same 80+ language coverage as the platform, and language-agnostic when you pass your own audio. Four lip sync models (Turbo, Flash, Premium, Ultra), plus AI dubbing and translation, are exposed via API endpoints.
Does LipDub have an API?
Yes. LipDub has a production REST API for audio dubbing and lip sync, so you can bring localization into your own product and pipelines.
How do I get API access and a key?
Request access through the API form. LipDub reviews and issues your key, usually within 1-2 business days. API access is available from the Scale plan.
How do I authenticate?
Pass your key in the X-Api-Key request header (the raw key, not a Bearer token). The base URL is https://api.lipdub.ai.
What files can I send, and how big?
Video as MP4 or MOV, audio as MP3, WAV, or AAC. You can also pass a remote source URL. There is not currently a file size limit.
Is it synchronous or asynchronous?
Asynchronous. Submit a job, then either poll for status or subscribe to webhooks (for example VIDEO_RENDER_COMPLETE) to know when a render is done.
What are the rate limits?
The default is 10 requests per hour. Enterprise raises throughput substantially (240+ videos per hour). Exceeding the limit returns a 429; honor the Retry-After header.
Which models and languages are available via the API?
Four model quality tiers: Turbo, Flash, Premium, and Ultra. Translation covers 80+ languages automatically, and you can pass your own audio for any language.
Is voice cloning available through the API?
Not currently through the API. Reach out if you need it programmatically, and use the app for voice cloning in the meantime.
Is there an SDK?
Not yet. The API is REST over HTTPS and works with any language. Full reference is at lipdub.readme.io.
